Fall trends 2015 – Burgundy is the new black

Today I had this interesting conversation with this clever girl. Over lunch, she told me that she enjoys surprising and even confusing people by wearing something unexpected: maybe a shiny pair of shoes, maybe something super sexy. While she was talking, I realised that it has been a long time since I experimented with my appearance. How long since I tried a new colour? I don’t remember. And suddenly it hit me: While in the midst of changing my life completely these days by moving to a new city, going back to school to among other things learn to code (!) or incorporating meditation as a daily routine, I completely forgot about my own appearance. If I can stretch my comfort zone so much in other areas of my life, why are my outfits looking the same?

I don’t think I will start using orange from tomorrow on, but I guess I can start adding new necklines and experimenting a bit with colours and combinations.

How about burgundy? Well, while this color is very conservative itself , it can be a great starting point to escape from the black and white. So how to pair it? To my surprise, it goes very well with a lot of other colours changing completely the mood of the outfit. For example, paired with metallics like a silver clutch suddenly gives it a sophisticated look. Paired with forest green gives a very grown up vibe, while playing with pastels suddenly the style goes much more fresh and happy. The mute shades of pink will work perfectly together. Mixing hues that are in the same tone will match the burgundy adding texture.

So how about you, do you experiment with your appearance?
