How many times have you wanted to give a new look to an old garment, or to produce an article by yourself? If the answer is “many”, welcome to the world of the do it youself (DIY). The truth is that this movement seems to be at its heyday, perhaps driven by the economic crises (after all, why buy if we can do it?) or simply cause of the possibility of using the creativity to make something customized.
Here are 10 selected DIY blogs and webpages that can be an inspiration to renew your closet without leaving home and spending a little money.
1 – We are Knitters
Strengthened by the DIY trend, the habit of knitting is gaining more (young) fans. This website sells kits with yarn balls, needles and patterns of clothes. Easy, didactical and beautiful.
2 – Honestly WTF
The DIY section of this interesting blog is embracing: there are tutorials of necklaces, bracelets, hair accessories, shoes, clothes … It’s impossible to look and not to desire putting the hands to work.
3 – PS: I made this
Perhaps the greatest challenge of the DIY in fashion is to leave the garments with a well finished appearance. To achieve it, the ideas should be easy to implement but at the same time with an elaborated aspect. This blog goes right on this direction.
4 – A pair & a spare
Geneva Vanderzeil, an Australian currently based in Hong Kong, makes on her blog a selection of a delicate and feminine fashion DIY. A gift to your eyes (and to your pocket).
A good opportunity for those who want to learn how to sew: the blog teaches it in a simple and didactical way.
6 – Swell Mayde
Directed by the blogger Aimee, Swell Mayde shows a more informal and fun clothing. Besides the DIY in fashion, you can also find inspirations about Home & Food.
7 – Lucky Lucille
The great meeting between the vintage and DIY trends: here you’ll find everything you need to make a retro style clothing.
8 – I SPY DIY
A nice blog full of great inspirations. The pictures are really cool and the tutorials well-explained. You will not get tired of looking.
9 – Love aesthetics
There’s much more than DIY on this minimalist and different blog, but their special aesthetic deserved a place on this list. It’s worth to take a look!
10 – Love Maegan
The creativity of the blogger Maegan seems to be endless and surely will leave you inspired to change the look of your old clothes.
