It’s June and most of the universities are presenting the final projects of their students. Last week I took the chance to take a look of the projects exhibition at HDK Gothenburg in Sweden, and there were a lot of interesting things to take note.

Since I love the idea of mixing fashion with technology (after all, what could be more futuristic than adding some utilitarian value to style), I would like to introduce you to an idea of Caroline Haberkorn. Haberkorn is a German/Swedish architect that has worked for private and public projects in Germany and Israel. To continue her education, she wanted to specialize in product and furniture design, and that is why she did the Master in Design Individual Specialization at HDK.

Her final project is a piece of jewelry that hides an app. Here is the project in her own words:

Mountains have always attracted people by their sheer sublimity. Standing on a summit you can feel free and relaxed – unconnected from demanding everyday life.
In our fast moving society we are busy staying up-to-date and managing all our duties. New communication technologies are developing and make it easier for us to be flexible and connected to each other at any time, at any place. But always being reachable can also cause permanent stress as it gets more difficult for us to just be alone or take some time off.
Peaktime is the concept of an application that gives you control over your availability in all digital communication channels. Acting like an adjustable answering machine, the app makes it possible for you to take your mountain time whenever you want and wherever you are.

Wouldn’t it be nice? To have the possibility to communicate to the world through a simple detail of your outfit “not now, please”. Don’t get me wrong, like everyone, I love to be fully immersed doing something I love. But I increasingly like the idea of taking more time just for myself and disconnect. Es junio y la mayoría de las escuelas de diseño están presentando los trabajos finales de sus alumnos. La semana pasada fuí a dar una vuelta por la exposición en la escuela HDK de Gotemburgo, en Suecia, y había muchas cosas interesantes para tener en cuenta.

Ya que me encanta la idea de mezclar moda y tecnología (al fin y al cabo, qué puede ser más futurista que añadir un valor utilitario al estilo), me gustaría presentarles la idea de Caroline Haberkorn. Haberkorn es una arquitecta alemana/sueca que ha trabajado en proyectos de arquitectura privados y públicos tanto en Alemania como en Israel. Para continuar su educación ella quería especializarse en diseño de producto, y así fué cómo hizo el Master en Diseño de HDK.

Las montañas siempre han atraído a la gente por su sublimidad absoluta. Pararse en la cima de la montaña hace que te sientas libre y relajado – desconectado de las demandas del día a día.

Nuestra sociedad nos obliga a movernos rápidamente, para llegar a todas nuestras obligaciones. Las nuevas tecnologías de comunicación se están desarrollando y nos hace cada vez más disponibles en cualquier momento. Pero estar siempre disponible puede causar un estrés permanente y hacernos perder la oportunidad de tomar tiempo para nosotros o estar sólos.

Peaktime es el concepto de una aplicación que te dá el control sobre tus canales digitales de comunicación. Actuando como un contestador automático ajustable, esta app hace posible que te tomes tu “tiempo de montaña” cuando quieras y donde quieras.

¿No sería genial? Tener la habilidad de decirle al mundo con un simple detalle de tu outfit “ahora no, por favor”. No me malinterpreteís, como a todos, me encanta estar “estresada” haciendo cosas que me gustan. Pero cada vez más me gusta la idea de tomar tiempo para mí misma y tomármelo con calma.
