10 pregnancy wardrobe essentials

Once the excitement of the news of the pregnancy passes, one of the questions that usually come to mind is: Now, what should I wear? It is true that the first few months you are probably going to be able to wear the same clothes you used to. But reaching the fourth month, your belly will begin to emerge and you’ll need new clothes in your closet to get dressed in the morning.

And this is when a lot of women do one of the biggest mistakes when buying clothes: Buy bigger clothes instead of maternity clothes. The fact that you’re pregnant does not mean you have to see especially “big”. Buy clothes that fit your body and show your tummy, you can be proud of it!

When buying maternity clothes try to keep the most of your style. If you always wear black, you don’t need to suddenly take pastels. Buy clothes that are true to your taste in colors, prints and fabrics.

There are some items in which it is worth investing. Maternity pants, for example, are easy to combine and super comfortable. Oversized tunics are perfect as they grow with your belly and you can change them with a belt. Another basic is good underwear: a good bra is especially important to protect your body at this time of constant change. And do not forget the shoes! Sandals, shoes with bows and colors, wedges or heels can  make your outfit more fun while improving your posture. If you are working, always wears a pair of ballerinas for your convenience.

I thought of making a selection of ten wardrobe basics that can not be miss these months (and that maybe you can use a couple of months after the birth of your little one). And everything under €100

2012 Bag trends – Back to Black!

Bolso Lanvin AW2012

I admit that this trend, found on catwalks today is very easy to add to my wardrobe (or for me to find something stored away that may work). While I love the colourful bags of these past seasons, this back to black trend for fall, brings some quite classy and sophisticated choices. Many  of them designed using minimal shapes and using vintage as inspiration the result makes for bags that will last a lifetime. Too simple? Maybe, but as you know…I’m the kind who tends to follow the motto…simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

Browsing through the handbag section of Farfetch.com I found some of the musts from the catwalk that you should bring home with you.

Minimal shapes:
Extremely simple lines like this Jade Chloé bag.

Vintage inspiration:
As seen in this shoulder bag of YSL.

Gladstone bags: Or also called Doctor’s bag is the classic shape we saw at Gucci or Jil Sander. This version of Sebastian Milano adds a modern twist with studded top handles.

Snakeskin:
Be as only details and accents or covering the complete bag, snakeskin is one of textures we continue to see this fall. Take as example this Cashhimi phyton bag.

Textured, fur-covered and embroidered:
This textured crocodile Giuseppe Zanotti bag or this VBH are pure lavish indulgence.

Feliz Lunes! Esta semana Bego4Monso en Cadiz y Barcelona

Here is a happy-go-lucky brand to start off the week on the right foot. Bego4Monso (the brand by Spanish designer Begoña Noya and Welsh designer and illustrator Monso (Simon Pugh) will be presenting their collection in two important Spanish showrooms very soon: Next Wednesday 27 in Cádiz, at the South 36.32n Showroom (a fair that showcases exhibitions, catwalks, conferences and workshops) and the Barcelona Changing Room next Saturday the 30th. I love this brand because it chooses to offer affordable products, in simple shapes and high quality fabrics, but that at the same time have a unique (and always optimistic) voice. An alternative to the high street from professionals.

Viktor&Rolf + Bugaboo

We all know that Bugaboo is a brand well in-synch with the world of fashion. They once again show us this by surprising us with a collaboration with Viktor&Rolf. This collaboration follows others that Bugaboo did with Missoni, Marc Jacobs, Paul Frank and Bas Kosters. The founders of Viktor&Rolf, Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren had this to say about:

Collaborating with Bugaboo has been a creative challenge for us since it’s outside of our immediate realms of design. This is always interesting since you get to chance to think about objects in different ways. While we were doing this, we imagined a My First Car Bugaboo – a luxurious and innovative vehicle on the cutting edge of mobility. There’s a slight ironic and unexpected twist in the fact that this Bugaboo could be on the road, but love the the idea that any design object can be transformed.

This very limited edition by Viktor&Rolf will be available in select stores around the world from September 2012.

Surf Style (Life is Better at the Beach)

I guess that right now, I couldn’t be any further from the turquoise waves (today the early northern light of Sweden woke me up at 3am), but that doesn’t keep me from dreaming of this summer’s beach days , the ocean breeze and that salty flavour in my hair after a long day enjoying the sun. So here is my selection of laid-back items for you to get inspired: you never know, you may be packing for a relaxed getaway soon!
