It is always fun to discover new projects, most of all in the online fashion scene. Launching today, The Skype Collaboration Project (SCP) is a new global space dedicated to original content on today’s creative industries. Featuring editorial articles, video content, and image galleries, it aims to highlight creative innovators and inspiring stories from the world of fashion and beyond. Editor-in-Chief Emily Fleuriot’s first editorial is all about inspiration: ’I hope that The Skype Collaboration Project inspires, provokes and encourages those who interact with it to pursue your dreams and that you will share your stories as you do!’.
The content doesn’t disapoint this manifesto: Victoria Beckham‘s rise to the fashion podium, the amazing story of fashion brand Apolis, who shatter preconceived ideas by using Skype to create shoes between Palestine, Israel and California or the article about technology in fashion featuring FASHION GPS founder, Eddie Mullon are just some highlights of the first issue. Beautifully designed, it worth a visit.
International, ecological and fun, SAAKO designs are perfect if you are looking to add a special detail to your outfit for a good price. We talked to Ana Capel to know more of this brand that is already being sold at Urban Outfitters and that recently joined the startup ecosystem of Twitter Incubator San Francisco.
Can you tell us more about the concept behind SAAKO ?
Saako was born in Barcelona but we are an international team, we are a team of 4 people with 3 different nationalities (American, Portuguese and Spanish ). Now is almost 4 years since we started selling on the international market, which has welcomed us very well from the beginning.
What materials you use to create your products?
All our products are handmade and most of the collection has been made with reused fabrics. We focus on sustainability and quality products . The Saako designs are labeled with the name of the woman who has done it with a brief history, so in addition to buy stylish street accessory you know you have a personal product.
You were recently picked up to be part of the the Twitter Incubator in San Francisco. What does this mean for you as a company and at as a creative level ?
Being accepted into the incubator in San Francisco Twitter has been a great adrenaline rush for us, as it is a recognition for our brand and the possibility that many doors will open for Saake, we hope to have great news soon …
Do you plan to create another type of clothing plus accessories ?
Yes, we have in mind to expand our product offerings but more in order to create menswear and children.
Future plans, or news you would like to share?
Our future plans include mainly working hard to continue to grow the brand. We are currently selling our designs at Urban Outfitters and the museum shop of New York MOMA which does nothing but confirm that we are going in the right direction. By the way! In short our social networks hang by a video on how to wear/ use our designs, we have filmed at the MACBA in Barcelona and has a futuristic inspiration we are sure you will love.
