Mette Rodtnes is an award winning architect and interior designer from Denmark and the founder of the bag label Rodtnes. Her main inspiration for the first model, Loretta was the desire to have a stylish bag that can carry all the things we need as women who work and that would also look good when you go for a drink with friends after works. A bag that fitted a large laptop. A bag that she needed, but it didn’t exist: so she created one. That’s how in 2012 the Rodtnes brand was born, a brand based on passion and principles about hard work, a critical approach and a very close cooperation with carefully picked craftsmen.
The stylish Mette wants to mix her knowledge of architecture with fashion always thinking about the needs of the women who will carry the bags: My creative process stems from my background in architecture. Architectural design is largely developed on the basis of considerations about the people who will inhabit a building and the visions you have about the life a building will encompass. I take my inspiration form women, whom I imagine carrying a Rodtnes bag. I think about all the women I admire – women who are making it in our time and constantly redefining what it means to be a woman. I think about what they do and how they live their lives. That’s a constant source of inspiration.

Women creating for other women. Really, the pictures doesn’t do justice to the products, every design feature is thought to the finest detail and the quality of the bags is amazing. Talking to Mette you could feel her passion and commitment to make something special that other women would love. Inspiring!
