Brazil, the World Cup…and fashion

By Carolina Soares

Posted in

The world already knows that Brazilians are crazy about soccer. But that fashion industry would also surrender to this sport, this was a pleasant surprise. The truth is that a World Cup hosted in Brazil was able to cause a double fashion trend movement: on one hand the influence of the sport, expressed, for example, by the white and black of the classic ball, by its peculiar pentagon or by the referee’s striped clothes. On the other hand the influence of the host country, with its tropicalism of vibrant colors, exotic birds and typical fruits.

As a Brazilian, I’m happy to see my country inspiring trends and I must confess I still celebrate (although quietly!) whenever I see elements of Brazil on the catwalk. The result of all this is a fun, lively and bold fashion. Just as a World Cup hosted in Brazil must be.
