Hoy cerró la pasarela 080 Barcelona Fashion, y estuvimos en el desfile de Miriam Ponsa, una buena representante del diseño femenino catalán. Al entrar en el salón, nos esperaba a los asistentes un agradable aroma a hierbabuena y una ramita en cada asiento. Un bonito preámbulo, para una colección inspirada en las “trementinaires”, mujeres que a principios de siglo se dedicaban a la recolecta de hierbas medicinales para curar enfermedades e iban de pueblo en pueblo, con sus cestas cargadas. Ponsa presenta una colección artesanal, cercana, con tejidos naturales y técnicas variadas para crear texturas, como puede ser la cestería, el tricot o el tapiz. Al finalizar el desfile, pudimos ver la parte mas divertida de Irina Lazareanu, tirando hierbas desde los bolsillos de la prenda. La colección no sólo nos recuerda un papel importantísimo de la mujer en el pasado, sino que nos inspira con sus guiños a la naturaleza.

Today was the last day of the 080 Barcelona Fashion Week and we were at Miriam Ponsa‘s show, a good representative of  Catalan feminine design. Upon entering the room, a pleasant aroma surprised us and a sprig of mint was waiting in every seat. A nice preamble to a collection inspired by the “Trementinaires”, women that early in the century were engaged in the collection of medicinal herbs to cure diseases and went from village to village carrying bundles and baskets. Ponsa made a collection of handmade and natural fabrics and she varied techniques to create textures, such as basketry, knitting or tapestry. At the end of the show, we could see the fun part of Irina Lazareanu, pulling weeds from the pockets of the garment. I think the collection not only reminds us of an important role of women in the past, but to inspire us with their nods to nature.
